I was taken in by the lovely exterior of this rice cooker. In quite a few attempts, it hasn't managed to successfully make decent rice yet. I can make better in a saucepan on top of the stove. It gets incredibly hot, and the rice winds up brown and crunchy on the bottom and stuck to the non-stick surface, no matter how much water I've put in. When I contacted Oster, they told me that I need to cook at least 6 cups of rice for it to work properly. That's a lot of rice for most families! There's no such statement on the box or in the instructions. The steamer attachment is a joke. It's a shallow plastic insert. Great, if you're steaming a carrot or two. I wanted to love this product. My first one the coating flaked off within the first week of use. The company sent me a replacement that arrived damaged. The third replacement arrived scratched as well and I gave up. In the beginning it popped the popcorn okay but it seems to have lots its power already. I just got this as a gift. It's adorable, works well, and is great for parties. Of course, you have to be safe and monitor it, but the cap allows for adjusting the flame. As for finding the fuel, Amazon sells RSVP Gel Fuel in the right size for the S'mores maker. I love it and so do my friends. Heavy-duty fountain fed 35 people easily. The chocolate we used was a bit thick, so we added chunks of cocoa butter. The unit melted them down easily and allowed the chocolate to thin down. (We did them same thing with chocolate in a $30 unit, and a piece of cocoa butter clogged it and chocolate was sprayed everywhere!) But this unit ran great. Has multiple heat settings, and is warm enough to actually melt the chocolate itself. The pieces are heavy enough that small bits of food don't mess it up. Note: At first, no lights came on and it sat dead. Luckily, my electrian father pulled off the base, found a lose wire and attached it. For the price, it is a great little fountain. We previously had a much larger one, but the problem was it took over 5 pounds of chocolate just to keep it going. This one is so easy to use and takes about 2 pounds.

Be careful! This fondue maker does not take normal rubbing alcohol. You will need to buy a special gelled fuel which is not available in most stores. I had to get mine online and pay an extra $15 including shipping. Also, the instructions say not to cook it in the pot itself, but rather to make the fondue on the stove in a normal pot and then transfer it to the ceramic one on the table. I spent 5 years living in Switzerland and never saw anyone do it like that! They always made it directly in the ceramic fondue maker. I bought this for chocolate as I have tempered chocolate before using a double boiler and this seemed easier. When melting it says it will melt up to a pound of chocolate but you are only supposed to fill the bowl to a certain line and when it melts you have about a third of a bowl of chocolate not a full bowl as picture shows. It formed tiny lumps before it melted and after it cooled to 85 I poured into molds. It never set fully, most stuck in the molds and others went crumbley. Instructions have you melt and cool to 85 only, nothing about cooling and then reheating to 85 as it says on this site. I also melted some yogurt coating which worked fine other than the fact you could only fill to a certain line although you could keep adding as it melted. I purchase this fondue pot from Amazon a couple of weeks ago. I wasn't sure if I would use it but after having a surprise birthday party for a friend; another friend brought cheese fondue and I thought it was great. She had the Rival fondue pot. I've had this for about a year now. I can't figure out how to temper chocolate to save my life so I just melt my chocolate in this little contraption and it works well for all my needs. It melts quickly. It cleans up nicely. But when I'm dipping a couple dozen shortbread cookies or some cakeballs, I have to continually put more chocolate in but like I said, it melts quickly so it's not too bad. It would make a great gift. I've melted milk, dark & white chocolate in this as well as Wilton Candy Melts. The nicest thing about this is that the chocolate stays melted & warm as you work. I used to melt my chocolate in a Pyrex bowl in the microwave but it would not stay melted as I worked and I had to continually remelt it. I admit, I was skeptical. I have one expensive electric fondue, but wanted another small one just for chocolate. For the price and a party pending, I decided to chance this one. Everyone thought it was the best thing ever.
You heat the chocolate first and this just keeps it warm. I found we had to keep about a bar's worth in there or it would start to burn to the bottom, but if we kept about 8oz in it and stirred it every 15 minutes or so, it was fine. This item was a total flop. We bought this item for our wedding as a last minute decision and it arrived 2 days before the wedding. Once we opened the item and went through the parts list, we noticed that it was missing the auger that aggitates the chocolate. I went through the process here on amazon.com to return it, only to be told that we could not return this item. Amazon recommended we contacted the manufacturer and they informed us that they didn't have this part even available for individual distribution. So long story short, 50 something bucks plus shipping just to have a useless, incomplete fountain that we can't even return/sell or buy replacement parts for. This was actually my first item I ever bought through Amazon.com and I can say it will most likely be my last. This is my second chocolate melting pot. Second not because anything went wrong with the first one, second only because the first one works so well, I wanted a second one so I could melt different chocolate colors simultaneously.
I know you can melt chocolate in a double boiler or microwave, but the Wilton Chocolate Pot not only melts the chocolate, but has a "keep warm" setting which keeps the chocolate pliable without getting it hot enough to "sieze"
